I've always been a very big fan of Petter Karlstrøm since I discovered his work when I moved to Sydney. Assisting him in a shooting for Johanna Johnson in december last year was an amazing and fun experience.

Both Peter and Johanna are awesome people and I can't wait to work with them again at some point this year. For sure the biggest winner on that day, was me, I learnt so much and I can't wait to use it in my practice.

"Nestled into the clear blue waters of Manly Cove with stunning harbour views, the beautifully restored Manly Pavilion is a fusion of old world glamour and contemporary architectural design"...

I spent the last three weeks creating this short movie for the Manly Pavilion, and I have to say, it was a complete new experience for me. Most of my work is based on still Photography, so for this one I was definitely out of my comfort zone, which I loved!. And literally that means I had to learn how to use new gear and software while I was shooting. Weather wasn't cooperating too much (when does it?) but overall and most important.. it was fun to do.

Fine Art Printing

The Gravy Cartel and myself are starting a new project... Basically, for the project’s first stage shoot, we are looking for a girl, experience not essential. If you have a "dark side" and are keen to be involved with something a little edgy and different from the norm this could be for you…The final product won't just be a photo though, this is a chance to be part of something fresh, with multiple creative mediums from photos and canvas work to lightbox display and design. Gravy Cartel and this Gallery are not just a growing brand but a staunch representation of local artists with a desire to showcase and promote a creative difference. If you have checked out our current exhibition with artist Kerry MacArthur then you can imagine what the final product may look like. Thanks for all the support shown last Thursday. The exhibition was a total success! We managed to sell more than half of the artwork, and plus... I met so many amazing people! ;)

Kerry MacArthur's Art Exhibition

Hi everyone,

It's been a little while since the last exhibition here at the gallery, but the wait is over, and the patience is paying off. Featured artist Kerry MacArthur brings a collection of lush textured mixed media canvas, sometimes merging with a street style influence with the use of spray cans. Also showcased are a series of framed prints inspired by a new collection of light-box creation which will feature in the gallery.

So as always, if you are interested in any form of art, come and support the local artists! This is the invitation for you and your mates. Good times are coming

Not only is this a revamp of the gallery, a year after the opening, things are starting to get better and better, not just for the gallery but also my photography.I'm soon starting two personal projects, exploring light in different ways and pushing my limits and the knowledge I've accumulated these past years...we'll see how it goes! I'm very pumped for this year's second half , can't wait to show you something new in my blog and on my walls!

A new exhibition is coming soon, no dates yet (don't want to rush things), so stay tuned because I've seen this artist's work and it is sick!

Naah, not at all bro, just chilling... Are you available right now to take some photos for TBA?... Yeah why not. So yep.. that was pretty much the vibe through shoot, very casual and relaxed. An hour after the phone call we were at the Gallery ready to go. The set up was quick and simple, just white fabric as a backdrop, a nice-soft main light at 45 degrees from the left and a bare flash firing from the back and right. One hour later we were just enjoying the day. A little bit of lightroom at night and boom! Job done!

Pretty good saturday I have to say, I met very cool people, worked a little bit and enjoyed a beautiful day.. I would like to have more saturdays like this one! ;)

Yoga time!

These are some pics of a shooting I did a couples of weeks ago... definitely a challenging situation because the extreme light conditions (it was a very very bright morning) but a very very fun morning too!

She is Man Yee, a Yoga practitioner who lives in the Northern beaches. Man Yee is about to open her new business so she contacted me to take this photographs for her new website!

So if you like meditation and want to learn Yoga she is definitely is the right person to hep you.

Vasen Summer '11: 'First Impressions'

Vasen is back! This time with an entire new range of amazing designs for 2011!

As you can see the clothes looked amazing, but the shooting turned out to be a real challenge for me this time. Struggling with rain, wind and blistering cold (sorry models) that was thrown at us by the enemy that was, Mother Nature, we where forced to shoot over a period of three days and had to deal with dramatic inconsistencies in lighting and the dreaded weekend rush in Manly!

Thankfully everything turned out well in the end, and I'm very happy with the results! Its always a pleasure to work with designers Amy and Kayita, and of course with the beautiful Leni and Patch. Thank you girls, I cant wait to work with you all again soon!

It was a very fun experience to participate in a collage Workshop with my friend Eli, here in the Gallery earlier this month. Sorry it took so long to put these pics up Eli, and to thank you aloud for the creative energy you brought! Hope Uni and teaching is going well mate!

All of the artwork where good, as you can see, however I still think my flower was the best! haha... (mine is the first one on the left) :)

The question of how we perceive ourselves; Our life, Our death is wrestled into being with oils, photography, watercolour, inks and ash. So different are the approaches of each artist that the works in the exhibition coalesce powerfully on a single trajectory: that of perception.

With works as inspired and diverse as the artists who create them, Re.View explores who we are and where we come from. Barra, crocs and camels steaks is over! What a great success it was having others showcasing their creative talent at 95 Sydney Road, and further defining the key objective that I have in mind from the beginning for this gallery: "a place to showcase my photography along with providing a creative space to share with other artist"

But, now its over it is my time to put my stuff back onto the walls. Before I sign off however, I would just like to thanks the people that came in the past two weeks, and for those of you who enjoyed yourself, keep tuned because in January there is much planned for other collaborations to exhibit.

Lastly, in case i don't have time to post anything new before December 31, Merry Christmas to everybody and a Happy New Year!

Back from Bellingen

Well, after a couple of days to recover after the weekend of pouring rain and torrential drinking at Bellingen's Global Carnival (or rather, the local Pub, The Federal) I can now post a couple of photos from the week away to Bellingen.

Awesome place, awesome people, awesome beaches... bummer it was such crapy weather over the last few days though. As a result of the weather I didn't have the chance to take the camera out to much, but on the Friday I was able to take some shots very early in the morning

We had to postpone the shooting for plasidapparel, weather resulting, and the Global festival was canceled on Sunday because of flash flooding... The question remaining then was a simple one, as the answer to it: what you can do when the rain doesn't want to stop? Yes... hit the local bar! All the week! I blame the rain of course....

Road Trip Tomorrow!

This week was a very good one in many ways... the fact that I sold my first prints was definitely the cherry(s) on the top!

As for next week, its looking to be similarly as awesome! I'm going to go for one week to Bellingen NSW to shoot the lookbook for the winter collection of plasidapparel, whilst also partying with the crew at Bellingen's Global Carnival, and also, of course, for Juzzy's birthday celebrations!!

So, I'm very pump for this week and will be shooting alot whilst I am up there so hope to come back on Monday with a lot of cool pics! :)

Hi everyone,

As you may already know, I'm about to open an Fine Art Gallery in Manly on the 15th of August at 95 Sydney Rd with the intention to showcase my photography, along with providing a creative space to share with other photographers and other artists. The idea was born from my desire to express my creativity through my photographs to a larger scale of people, so this personal project is going to be dedicated to sharing and promoting different types of creativity from myself, and various other artists.

Angkor Wat es simplemente impresionante!. Los niños juegan escondiendose por todo el complejo de ruinas mientras otros menos timidos se acercan a los turisas a vender artesanias por un dolar.

Paseando por la aldea flotante de Tonle Sap, el lago mas grande del sudeste de Asia (crece hasta 5 veces su tamaño en epoca de lluvias) me encontre a esta niña que vino paseando en su canoa y se acerco a mi bote para venderme su mascota... y se molesto porque no se la quise comprar!! ajaja

Aaaaaah que dificil elegir 3 fotos cuando tienes mil que te gustan, Indochina me en-can-to!!! asi que para abril vere si puedo regresar que me falto Tailandia!. El templo de arriba esta en Ho Chi Minh City, lo que era antes Saigon, que es la capital, es increible la cantidad de motos que hay!!! muy pocos autos y casi nadie camina, usan la moto hasta para ir a la esquina!

Vietnam tiene dos estaciones, la seca y la de lluvias... esta es de cuando paro de llover por unas 3 horas en Hoi An, muuuy linda ciudad, me encanto, la gente muy amable y calida, pero diluvio todo el tiempo que estuve ahi.

Y aunque de todas la ciudades la que menos me gusto fue Ha Noi, tienes que pasar por ahi si quieres llegar a Halon Bay... alucinante!!

La maleta del abuelo!

Ok, las cosas estan de cabeza en todos lados, la economia mundial se fue a la #$#@!!, asi que el plan va a ser lo mas simple posible: Armar mi empresa haciendo lo que mas me gusta... total para eso fue que me vine tan lejos!. Por ahora tengo que trabajar para otros estudios ya que me vine con una mano adelante y la otra atras, y tengo varias deudas que pagar y equipo que comprar. En este periodo quiero definir muy bien y con el corazon cual es el tipo de fotografia que mas disfruto hacer y averiguar a quienes les podria interesar mi trabajo. El camino es largo, pero analizando bien las cosas antes de hacerlas y moviendome de manera inteligente estoy seguro que puedo llegar a donde quiero. La meta es clara, tener mi estudio y haber formado una marca haciendo las fotos que yo quiero.... todo en 3 años o menos! Y lo pongo aca por escrito asi no hay vuelta atras!!!

Un mes exacto que rapido!, ya arrancaron las lluvias y las noches estan muuuuy frias. Si en Bs As me congelaba en invierno aqui con el clima seco me voy a morir de hipotermia seguro!!!. Por ahora me estoy quedando en la casa de mi hermana que esta cruzando el Harbour Bridge (el puente de arriba), pero ya estoy buscando departamento, asi que supongo que pronto me mudare. Estoy buscando por el centro, (desde donde tome la foto) o las playas que estan un poquito mas lejos... pero ya veremos. La ciudad tiene mil paisajes alucinantes para fotografiar, pero como deje mi tripode en Bs As voy a esperar hasta comprar uno primero! Ya cuando lo tenga subire mas fotos ;)

Lo logramosss!!! yajuuuu, despues de 2 años de papeleos, tramites y mil y un cosas llego el dia!, la pase superlindo!!!, pero que pena que te quedaste tan pocos dias!. Hace tan solo un rato llegue de dejarte en el aeropuerto y el dia esta super lindo como para salir a pasear.... aunque igual voy dormir creo un bueeen rato, con todo lo que caminamos e hicimos estos dias estoy muerto!...

Espero que regreses pronto, yo estoy muuuy emocionado, la ciudad es superlinda, la gente muuuy amable (relajadaaaaasos mejor dicho!, como me gusta ja!), y siento que lo mejor esta por venir!!!... y aunque vimos canguros, tocamos koalas y paseamos en ferry... hay muchisimas cosas q nos falto hacer, una semana quedo muy corta, asi que apura en regresar! ;)

Asi de pelado quedo el dpto para la ultima noche... manana regreso a Lima a visitar a mi familia y amigos asi que supongo no voy a estar subiendo material por algun tiempo. Gracias Cris, Damian y Nati por ayudarme a vaciar el dpto, les deseo lo mejor para cuando se muden juntos... Ema viejo buena conversa nos metimos, suerte con la pintura... Santi y Gri, mil gracias por prestarme la maleta del abuelo ajaja, por ayudarme desde temprano a empacar, por llevarme al aeropuerto y acompañarme hasta la hora de embarcar... gracias a los que me despidieron durante todos estos ultimos dias... me los llevo a todos en fotos y recuerdos y seguro nos veremos antes de lo que se imaginan... ya saben con una quilmes de por medio como siempre! ;)

Bueeeeno, si no subi nada en enero fue porque ha sido un mes de locos, muchos cambios en mi vida, muchos altibajos en un solo mes... pero hace unas semana recibi un llamado diciendome que ya tengo la visa y la residencia para ir a Australia!, ... asi q... basicamente tengo un mes para despedirme de Bs As!, espero ver a la mayor cantidad de amigos antes de irme, aunque se que el tiempo lo tengo justo... tengo que vender todo lo que acumule en 4 anios, y arreglar mil cosas antes de irme... y aunq va a ser dificil relajarme este mes... solo quiero disfrutarlo al maximo ;)

Esta podria ser la imagen q resume toda mi semana jajaja. Lau y yo nos hemos cruzado con los tiempos toda esta semana, asi que cada uno ha estado comiendo lo que puede y donde puede. Recien este viernes pudimos salir a cenar juntos en la noche, y hoy domingo porfin pudimos disfrutar todo el dia que por suerte estuvo muy muy lindo. Voy a tener seriamente que mejorar mis habilidades en la cocina si es que no quiero pasar hambre cuando ella no este. ;)

Siam Di Tella 1500

Reorganizando la pila enorme de fotos que tengo sobre mil y un cosas encontre unas Fotos sobre este Siam Di Tella 1500. En la postproduccion fue donde agregue los tonos sepia y esa onda antigua y de nostalgia que ya de por si tenia el auto. La idea original de estas fotos eran para formar parte de un clip que nunca se pudeo terminar.

Octubre estuvo un toque mas movidito que lo usual (mi amigo Giorgio Dellepiane estuvo de visita a Bs As, mi novia Laura se fue a Mexico por una semana, me inscribi en varios talleres en la UP, etc etc) por eso recien es que tengo un ratito libre para subir unas fotos!

Giorgio se quedo en mi casa asi que esta es una foto de el practicando frente al espejo... les dije q era mago no?, jajaja fue muy divertido verlo hacer sus trucos!

Y bueno, estas iluciones tipo David Blane no puedo contar como las hizo! jejeje lo unico que no me dijo es como hacer aparecer dinero! para la proxima!!

Originalmente habia mandado esta fotografia a participar en la convocatoria mensual que hace Fotorevista cuyo tema mensual era Movimiento. Pero hace unos dias me enviaron un mail comunicandome que habia sido elegida como Foto del Dia (18/09/08), asi que muchas gracias a la gente de Fotorevista por la grata sorpresa!... saludos y gracias tambien a la gente que subio sus comentarios!

Me sigue divirtiendo mucho este tema que estoy explorando y esta fotografia es una de las que mas me gustan... aunque como una fotografa me dijo en un foro "el concepto y y la estetica son muy ineresantes... pero todos sabemos que en la realidad funciona al revez la cosa" jajaja... yo no se como el resto maneja sus relaciones pero en mi caso diria que es un justo y democratico 50 y 50.

No hay nada como una buena fiesta para mejorar el timing y hacer el click en el momento justo ya que aqui no hay opcion a repetir la toma...

Elegir la velocidad que vas a utlizar, la apertura de diafragma, temperatura de color, encuadre etc... son decisiones que te tienen que fluir de manera rapida si no quieres perder ese instante que quieres capturar...

eso sin mencionar a las 300 personas que constantemente saltan, empujan, manotean y bailan a tu lado!!!

Bueno como siempre nos juntamos Santiago, Gaby, Grisel, Laurita y yo para pasar un buen rato y jugar de paso con las camaras y las luces.

Esta vez me toco disfrazar a Santi e iluminarlo con 2 flashes, uno (que grisel lo agarraba pegado a la pared) que lo iluminaba de lado resaltando la textura de la pared, y el otro venia por atras de Santi dandole una luz muy puntual en la parte derecha de la cara y dandole ese borde de luz que lo separa del fondo.

Fin se semana largo y yo enfermo en casa!!

Pero bueno, suele suceder... y ya que tenia mucho tiempo en casa haciendo nada, me puse a jugar con el Flash sacandolo de la camara y poniendolo en diferentes lugares aver q salia ;)

Este miercoles me junto con algunos amigos para hacer lo mismo y divertirnos un rato! Espero que con varios flashes salgan cosas muy interesantes!.... Pd: feliz cumple Jimeeeee!!

Domingo deportivo?

no para mi... mientras Lau corria hasta la Facultad de Derecho... me tome un micro y la espere ahi, donde usualmente termina su recorrido. La tarde estaba muy fea pero igual saque la camara y el flash aver si salia algo.

Para los que no lo sabian (yo recien me entere) bajo la facultad hay un tunel que va de lado a lado. Y me parecio perfecto para poner el flash sobre un tripode atras de Lau, y dispararlo a a distancia mientras tomaba la foto del otro lado!
